Writing Prove it 27

L.I.Can I add interest into my writing by using similes and metaphors?

One day I was walking down the road and I saw a pen with this filament thing on the bottom. I made a house as bright as a gold block. I made a toy that is as spiky as a porcupine and it was as red as a rose.

Magic Play Dough

I picked up the play dough and gave it a squeeze,
I said to myself please oh please.

I saw it starting to change,
I thought to myself that’s strange.

I hope it's blue.
So my wish will come true.
I wished for a 3d pen.
Maybe even ten.

In class we made magic play dough. We had to squeeze it and squish it around to make it change from white to red, blue and green. It was pretty amazing watching it change colour.

Workshop 24 Prove It

L.I. Can I add detail to my writing?

It was a beautiful beach in Australia. Kids built tall castles out of sparkly sand with a stick and leaf for a flag at the top. Surfers ride their surf boards the big large waves. The beach brings laughter and joy to everyone. Adults playing with their children and looking after them. People splash about in the salty water. 
Splash goes the little kids playing in the water and on the sand.

Splashed around with my friends. 

Played piggy in the middle with Cullen.

Lay down in the baby pool.

Ate a whole bag of salt and vinegar chips.

Some people were disobeying the safety rules.

Had fun by going down the slippery hydro slide.

Catch the ball when I played piggy in the middle with Cullen.

Every time Cullen's sister saw me in the middle she threw the ball right to me.

Nice and cozy hot pool was like a spa. 

The hydro slides were amazing.

Even though Cullen's sister did not even know me she was really nice to me.

Ran as fast as I could in the warm pool.

Green Pastures Camp

Monday morning I get up ready for school really excited because it was camp. At camp the activities were Air rifles, archery, mud run, horizontal bungy, raft making, confidence course and kayaking. Most of there stuff was home made and mostly made from tyres I am pretty sure they were showing us what good use tyres can be. The horizontal bungy had a dark green with black diamond pictures and it had a bit of white on the water hose for a rope.
It also had black 
 tyre that was quite small in size but prefect for most sizes. They also used tarpoline for a water slide that you use to slide back when you cant go any more.

L.I. Can I write some complex sentences?

I ran to the Splash Center and I went to the Hydro slide, wee this is the best day ever. La la la walking to the hot pool. Yahoo I did a bomb and the supervisor told me off so I went home to hop in my pool. Brr. Cold. Ahh!! Suddenly I saw a spider so I went inside for a hot chocolate, yum this is the best day ever. Caleb!! Yes mum. Its bed time. OK good night.

My Family Treasure.

For our inquiry we have been learning about each other so we can be a successful community. We brought our family treasure to school to show each other. 
My treasure is a Indian coin.  It was one of the first coins made in India. It was my mums great grandmas.  It is really small and has three little lines on it.

Writing Prove itL.I Can I use alliteration in my sentences?

My friend Fred fried crispy chips at lunch time for me and Taika. Me and my friend Taika went up all the big ramps that I had. We went up all of them on scooters while we were waiting for the chips. The crispy crunchy chips tasted great. While me and Taika were jumping on the ramps Taika's mum came to pick him up. I got sad. I was doing big jumps on my bright black bike.

Our Community Walk

Our Community Walk

Monday morning Room 1 and 2 went for a walk around our community for our inquiry to see what communities there are in our area and talk about personification for our writing. We  passed the Splashcentre, badminton and a few other places. Suddenly it started to rain.  everyone moaned about it. Some of us were lucky enough to  get a ride back to school the others got  a umbrella to walk back. When we got back to school we were all happy and worm.

Carlton Rocks!!!

At Carlton School my class are painting some rocks. We will be hiding them around our school for a class to find. Lets get started on how we designed our rocks. Well, first we chose our rock and one piece of A5 paper. Next we designed our rock on the paper we got. Then we painted a base coat of white paint on our rock. After that we did our main colour of paint. Then we did the rest of our patterns that we drew on our plan.

How To Make A Spinning Top!

How to make a spinning top!
Bottle top
cardboard or card

.First you need to get your bottle top and drill a hole in the middle of the bottle top.
.Next trace around the bottle top.
.After you have done that you can choose if you want to colour it in.
 .Then you can cut the circle out .
.Once you've done that put a hole in the middle of the card circle you cut out.
.Finally put the skewer into the middle of the card and the bottle top.  
.Now have fun!

Get an adult to help drill the hole.
Don't prick your self!!

Gymnastics Writing

Rarangitia ki waho, ki mua "Everyone take your shoes and socks off please" said Kelly. We have been learning how to do
tuck, straddle and pike. We also learnt how to do a motorbike landing in our rotations because most times we use it in our groups. 
We split up into 4 or 5 groups then the quietest group gets to chose where they want to go. So for an example they might chose the big trampoline. There is also a small tramp that we practice our tuck, straddle and pike.
I like the gym because they have lots of fun things to do. The gymnastic instructors names are Kelly and Ryan.

The cows were like lawnmowers. The barn was bright red lava in glass. The goat was a chewing machine it ate everything it even ate my undies. The pig was like a sheep dog crazy!! Wonk, wonk said the dog that was like a pig, strange ha.

The Mysterious Water Experiment

What you will need.
1.One big bowl
4.Glad wrap

1. Put water into the big bowl.
2. Put the mug inside of the bowl.
3. Place glade wrap over the top.
4. Tie string over the glad wrap to keep secure.
5. Put in the sun and wait.

My prediction is that it is going to get fluff all over it and water vapor is going to happen.

The results: The sun heated up the water and it evaporated up towards the glade wrap.
Condensation formed on the glade wrap. when the water vapor became heave it dropped into the cup, like rain. (precipitation)
Ya!!! My prediction was correct.

T2 W10 Reflection

What: Last week some of He Punga Hangahanga technology made macaroni and cheese with ham in it. It tasted a bit to cheesy but other than that it was amazing. Last week we also went to W. H. S production about Snow White and the seven dudes, it was a real good show. It was so good. I did not even have a favourite part. Last week I got fun time for the whole week. I was really excited.

So What: Last week I learnt how to keep in character in a show or production.

Now What: Last week my goal was to get gold stickers in my handwriting I still have not achieved this goal because I have not got any gold stickers.

Reflection Week 9 T2

What: Last week I made a water cycle on Google drawing for my inquiry of where the water comes from and how it gets to that place. I wrote a transactional piece of writing about should we be allowed bikes or scooters at school. I said no. I also wrote an inquiry vocab on my computer about what the meanings of precipitation, condensation, transpiration, evaporation and accumulation.

So What: Last week I learnt where the water comes from and how it gets there.

Now What: Last week my goal was to get gold stickers in my handwriting. I still have not achieved my goal because I have not got a gold sticker in my handwriting.

Straw Building

The Lions Learning Den at Carlton School made buildings out of drinking straws. In my group I had Jack, Khyzan, Cody, Troy and myself. Our building stayed up for the longest because we used blue tack for the foundation and used the same
amount of straws on both sides of our building.

T2 W3 Reflection

What: Last week some people from City College came to Room 1/2 to talk to us about behaviour and what fun and amazing things they do at their school. On Wednesday there was lightning and thunder, Mrs Morris ducked down because she thought she was going to get struck. We learnt about Haiku poems we all did one about lightning and thunder, it was lots of fun.

So what: Last week I learnt about Haiku poems and what it is.
